Program Manager

We are currently seeking the support of a Program Manager to oversee and facilitate a portfolio of partnerships and programs dedicated to creating food access. This position is a fantastic growth opportunity for a community impact-minded individual with a strong attention to detail, interested in building a more equitable food system. The Program Manager role requires excellent communication and relationship management skills, the ability to work independently as well as collaborate across TBF departments, and the capacity to keep organized while meeting multiple deadlines.

Main Objectives:

  • BUILD strong relationships with partners through consistent communications, high attention to detail to successfully plan and execute food initiatives, and can-do attitude to make things happen
  • DEVELOP prospective programs and partners as in a sales-oriented role to expand TBF business and community impact through an increasing roster of food programs
  • EXECUTE efficient and impactful community food programs through excellent account management responsibilities with external partners as well as positive, effective, and timely communications and collaboration with TBF colleagues
  • REPRESENT Top Box Foods values and expectations in both internal and community settings at all times

Job Details

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $40,000 - $50,000/ year, paid bi-weekly via direct deposit
  • Healthcare benefits 
  • 10 days paid personal time

Schedule

  • Full time, 40 hours per week, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Hybrid in-office and remote schedule available
  • Occasional events beyond normal working hours may be required, to be discussed in advance
  • 10 days paid personal time annually, in addition to sick days

Daily Responsibilities: Partner & Program Management

Oversee Portfolio of Partnerships to Plan, Implement, and Track Community Food Programs

  • Foster positive relationships with existing partners through timely and friendly communications, expertise in TBF and its capabilities and operations, and strategic problem-solving to plan and implement high-quality food access programming
  • Provide partner organizations and participating community members with exceptional customer service
  • Coordinate food distribution logistics with Operations team and other key TBF personnel to confirm scheduling, product availability, operational capacity, and communications with food recipients and address issues in a timely manner
  • Track qualitative and quantitative programmatic data to ensure timely and accurate accounting as well as support with formal and informal reporting efforts to partner organizations and TBF colleagues including grant writers, marketing team, and others
  • Represent TBF by attending partner community events, presentations, and other engagement opportunities periodically to promote positive relationships, encourage continued partnership, and ensure smooth facilitation of programming

Expand TBF Partnerships and Programming

  • Engage in ongoing community current events and action to pursue new partnership and program opportunities, expand TBF impact, and promote positive community relationships with individuals as well as other organizations in the nonprofit and community health sectors
  • Support the TBF team as needed to promote positive relationships and operations for programs outside individual portfolio as well as take on single event orders and partnerships during peak operational periods such as the November-December holiday season

Support Daily Operations

  • Actively support and communicate with Program Management, Customer Service, Operations, Marketing, and Volunteer teams to achieve efficient daily logistics and program facilitation
  • Be a flexible team player providing additional support as needed, supporting interdepartmental work to ensure that TBF is providing the best service possible for our community

Warehouse Operations Associate

We are currently seeking the support of a Warehouse Operations Associate to assist with all programmatic distribution efforts and support our mission.

Main Objectives

  • SAFELY facilitate distribution of fresh produce boxes and other healthy groceries to households, community partners, and community events
  • RESPONSIBLY operate TBF vehicles and equipment to ensure quality and integrity of all staff, products, and services 
  • POSITIVELY represent organizational values and expectations in both team and community settings at all times

Our programs are designed to build a more equitable and localized food system. TBF’s two main programs are: 

  1. Top Box Market: Our founding program offers free delivery of healthy, affordable food available for purchase using EBT/SNAP or Debit/Credit. We offer fresh fruits and vegetables, high-quality proteins, and local products. With the help of a network of community partners, Top Box Market creates direct access to healthy and affordable foods for Chicagoans by removing economic and transportation barriers to food access.
  2. Top Box Community: Created in response to the rise in food insecurity throughout the pandemic, we collaborate with organizations to address hunger and improve health outcomes through food. We offer customizable grocery boxes, tailored programming, and flexible delivery options that make it easy for our partner organizations to help the community access healthy food.

Job Details

Requirements: We are seeking Warehouse team. members to work in the warehouse or as delivery drivers. Candidates for delivery driving require a valid driver’s license.

Compensation

  • $17-18 per hour starting pay based on experience and availability, paid bi-weekly via direct deposit
  • Unlimited 20% employee discount off all TBF groceries

Schedule

  • Flexible scheduling based on employee availability, days available are typically Monday-Saturday
  • 10-30 hours a week part-time scheduling available, with the opportunity to increase hours/days and advance

Daily Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality and integrity of all products through temperature control monitoring and additional safe handling 

practices

  • Effectively utilize cell phone apps to navigate driving routes and communicate delivery information to customers
  • Collect customer payment using hand-held payment machines
  • Actively support Warehouse and Operations Coordinators and colleagues  with daily logistics 
  • Support management of  product inventory levels and organization daily and ensure accuracy of all TBF orders

  • Act as a TBF ambassador while working in the community, maintaining active and up to date knowledge of ongoing 

programs and community resources that increase healthy food access

  • Provide additional operational support as needed; including but not limited to - collecting inventory from vendors, 

preparing product for daily and food share delivery, delivering inventory to partners for non-programmatic contributions and projects, performing equipment maintenance or other routine cleaning and warehouse maintenance  requirements

Desired Skills

  • Ability to safely drive and operate delivery vehicles, such as sprinter vans, 16-ft.+ box trucks

  • Experience with Excel, Google Sheets and Slack preferable, but not required; training and professional development
